If you’re a book lover or just someone who appreciates a calm, aesthetic vibe, you’ll probably love this place. The lobby and café area feel like a modern library - relaxing music, gorgeous bookshelves, and plenty of cozy seating with power outlets at every spot. Perfect for catching up on emails, working, studying, or planning your next ramen stop. Even better, the café is open 24/7. One night I found myself sitting in the library-style lounge from midnight to 2am, sipping tea and planning my next day on my laptop. Super peaceful and such a rare find. The café serves decent coffee - nothing to write home about, but it does the job. If you like your coffee strong (like, wake-me-up strong), I’d suggest asking for an extra shot or less milk to give it more punch. Their standard ratio leans heavily into the milk side of life. Soy milk was available, which was great. Unfortunately, no oat milk on offer. My double room was spotless and well laid out, with a comfy reading chair that made the whole "book hotel" theme feel like more than just branding. The toilet and shower setup was also impressive. The staff were super friendly and helpful - they also booked me a taxi without any fuss and answered all my questions with a smile. Location-wise, it’s solid. About a 10-minute taxi (roughly 1,100 yen) to or from Hakata Station, and an easy walk to Tenjin. You’re also surrounded by bars, restaurants, and convenience stores, so there’s no shortage of options. If retail therapy’s on the agenda, Canal City Shopping Centre is about a 20-minute walk or a quick 10-minute cab ride.

The hotel lobby is a 24 hour cafe with attentive staff and amazing popularity with locals that are not hotel guests. This is actually very positive, because the constant presence of customers creates an environment that feels super safe and lively. The hotel rooms are typical for Japan, small but with everything one needs, practical, efficient and clean. It has a coin operated laundry facility, which we did use and was super convenient. What we liked the most was the location. At first glance in seems a bit out of "the action" of the more commercial streets, but in fact, this is what turned out to be most appealing. It blends with the neighborhood, which is very safe and clean, with the typical Japanese mixed use type of setting with many small shops, restaurants and bars intermixed with the residential buildings. It was great to feel like it was OUR neighborhood that made us feel very welcome.

Lamp Light Books Hotel in Fukuoka was beyond my expectations. I arrived in the late morning (around 11:00am) and relaxed in the hotel lobby until check-in. The hotel lobby provided such a calm and relaxing atmosphere, with a cafe at the heart of it. I would often end my nights with an iced matcha to take to my room and even spent an evening in the hotel, relaxing before dinner (you even get a discount on cafe items if you are staying at the hotel). The hotel's location is a 10 minute walk away from the subway station which takes you to Hakata. There are lots of shopping, dining and cafes located nearby - a soft-serve store was just across the street, it was a nice treat to enjoy upstairs.

I just love this hotel. From the moment you walk into the lovely smell of croissants baking to the friendly and helpful staff, it just has this very homely feel to it. Watanabe was super helpful with booking Yamato for luggage transfer and offering suggestions around the area. The cafe has such a lovely ambience about it, I could spend hours perched in an armchair reading a book. I love the coffee too, made perfectly to my taste. The location of Lamp Light Books Hotel is fantastic, right in the middle of the trendy Daimyo area. It's a 5 minute walk to the train station and bus stops too. Highly recommend for location and hotel ambience.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Lamp Light Books Hotel. First, the hotel is unique with a full cafe on the first floor. Always busy since it a 24 hour cafe. Second, the hotel room was clean. Maybe cleanest I have stayed in Japan. Since the accommodation was new, that may have an effect on cleanliness, but the staff takes care of the facility. Convenient to Tenjin shopping and restaurants. Since the hotel is close to everything, there is some outside noise, but nothing a little white noise cannot overcome (plus earplugs were provided if needed). Overall, I would stay again in the future.
